Waltham Forest Adult Learning Service

There are vacancies in:

  • Health Care Assistants

Course start date Tuesday 5th May 2015

Course end date Friday 22nd May 2015

The will be delivered Tuesday to Friday each week, (with the exception of an additional date of Monday 18th May for interviews skills)

Course times 9.30am to 4pm

You are required to attend all sessions

The course covers:

  • Working Methods within the NHS
  • Confident Communication within the Health Service/ Handling information/ data protection /Information governance
  • Understanding of Person Centre Way
  • Understanding of duty of Care
  • Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and control
  • Awareness of Mental Health, Dementia and Learning Disability
  • Awareness on Safeguarding Adults and Children
  • Equality and diversity
  • 6 week Work Placement

Also covered on the course:

  • Writing effective ‘Supporting Statement’ and Job application
  • Interview Techniques
  • Individual presentation for employer
  • Basic Customer Service
  • Basic Medical Terminology

To join this course you must:

  • Be a resident of Waltham Forest (However if you are from another borough you application could be considered)
  • Have a minimum GCSE Level 2 or equivalent Qualification
  • Have basic ICT skills
  • Have the ability to commit minimum of 16 hours and Maximum of 25hrs placement for 6 weeks
  • Flexible to do placement in any of the 6 hospitals
  • No criminal conviction or caution
