Since working at Circle Housing Wherry as a Business Excellence Apprentice, Rachel has found a way to apply her creative side to business and now she feels confident about her future.
“When I saw the advert for the apprenticeship, I wasn’t even sure what apprenticeships were! I did a bit of research and decided that it would be perfect for me.
I originally thought about studying fashion but I wasn’t sure what was right for me. While I was working everything out, I thought that this would be a great way for me to get some qualifications while I earned some money.
Today I’m part of the business excellence team at Circle Housing Wherry, dealing with complaints, compensation payments and missed appointment vouchers. Earning as I learn means I could afford driving lessons and I’ve now got my own car. So yes, an apprenticeship is definitely a good choice if you want to pick up a wage as well as a qualification.
Through my apprenticeship, I’ve already gained a level 2 NVQ in customer services and will soon have a level 3 in business administration.
It’s not only qualifications that I’ve gained; it’s confidence and people skills. I meet new people everyday at Circle Housing Wherry and it’s definitely made me a lot more self-assured.”
