An apprenticeship gave Lucy the confidence to take control of her future and make a real difference to people’s lives.
“I’ve been at Circle Housing Roddons for around a year now. My team manages the local register for housing, so my job mainly involves dealing with the Home-Link applications that come in.
At the beginning I was afraid to even answer the phone and dreaded the moment I had to pick it up and talk to somebody. But every day it gets better and better and now it just comes naturally to me. Today I’m happy to speak in front of people I’ve never met before and my confidence has grown massively.
People have started to take notice of me and I’m being given more and more opportunities to impress. I’ve gone to meetings on my own and have even represented the property marketing team at meetings.
Working at Circle Housing has also taught me is that I genuinely like to help people.
Last year we completed a Homes for Christmas campaign which involved housing 30 families who desperately needed a home in 28 days. We had to really push ourselves but we made it, and in the future I’d like to do more to help people who really need it.”
